Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced R&D Engineer to join our small, friendly and innovative team to play a key hands-on role in the design for manufacture and service processes.

Key duties and responsibilities you’ll be contributing to include:

  • Building instruments, including the fabrication of components
  • Designing and developing new process equipment, jigs and fixtures as part of the new product introduction process
  • Planning and executing testing and validation; interpreting results and creating reports with conclusions on performance, reliability and safety
  • Training production staff in the safe and correct assembly of new products
  • Contributing to the production of service manuals and assisting the service team with on-site fault-finding

To succeed in this role, we’re looking for someone with comprehensive experience as a development or test engineer within a related role (not software or electrical testing).

You’ll need to be used to working in a hands-on role, physically getting involved in building, operating and modifying electromechanical instrumentation and testing equipment; and have a strong knowledge of machine parts, sheet metal and plastic fabrication methods that you’ll be able to put into practice. If you additionally have knowledge of optical systems, electronics and electrical drawings, this would be a distinct advantage, as would a degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

The successful candidate will also need to be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey information accurately, clearly and concisely; and able to accurately interpret 2D and 3D design data.
